Peronism fails to gather quorum for final parliamentary session

Buenos Aires, November 26 (NA).- Peronism failed today in its objective of convening the last session of the ordinary period for tomorrow, as it did not have the guaranteed quorum to open the debate, according to the Argentine News Agency. The objective of the Peronist inter-bloc was to convene a session tomorrow to sanction the project that regulates the Decrees of Necessity and Urgency and the election of the members of the Audit General. Parliamentary sources told NA that they were close to reaching the quorum of 37 legislators to open the session, but there was resistance from the rest of the opposition blocs that do not want to confront the National Government amid the budget negotiations. The Peronist blocs wanted to ensure they have two members in the Audit General from the Senate, which will no longer happen since one seat will now correspond to La Libertad Avanza and another to radicalism or provincial forces. Parliamentary sources told the Argentine News Agency that there was also no agreement within Peronism on the names they wanted to propose, since while there was a consensus to propose the appointment of Javier Fernández, there were differences over the candidacy of Carlos Raúl Gutiérrez Ortiz, an advisor linked to the president of the inter-bloc, José Mayans. The Peronist bloc of Convicción Federal wanted to propose former Senator Ricardo Guerra, with which there is no agreement within the PJ. The UCR also has no agreement since, although initially the UCR candidate was Luis Naidenoff, now a sector driven by the Chaqueño Victor Zimerman. As for the regulation of DNUs, Peronism wanted to give final sanction to that law that limits the use of Decrees of Necessity and Urgency, which was rejected by the National Government.
